The Episcopal Mission Society of Stamford, Inc., was formed by St. John’s Church to hold title to its landholdings and distribute any income received from its tenants to further the evangelistic and philanthropic purposes of the parish. Through EMSS, the parish funds the St. John’s Community Foundation, which since 1987 has given away over six million dollars to over one hundred agencies of charity and mercy in Stamford, and supports the operating and capital expenses of St. John’s Church. EMSS is central to the parish’s mission in Stamford, and it maintains the highest standards of governance and financial responsibility in supporting that mission.
