Sunday School
At St John’s Church, we strive to give all children create meaningful opportunities for your child to grow in the knowledge and love of God.
From their earliest days and throughout life, children and teens naturally wonder and ask deep questions about the spiritual world, about God, the person of Jesus, and the stories of the Bible. At St. John’s, we help children answer those questions, and we aim to build strong friendships among, children, teens, and the congregation, so your child feels known, comfortable, and at home here. Additionally, through the arts, social justice, and fun, we seek to give all children a strong faith background and equip them with the tools they need to navigate the spiritual life… with their families and in their own hearts.
For children
For children in pre-K through grade 4, St. John’s Sunday School uses Godly Play.
A Christian education curriculum rooted in Montessori principles, Godly Play conveys Biblical stories and the rich tradition of the church in ways that are age-appropriate, tactile, and fun, while also encouraging the children to use their imaginations to make these lessons come alive with fresh meaning.
Additionally, we begin our time together with “children’s church” a child-led worship experience, and we finish with arts, crafts, and games.
Each week, the children return to the 10:15 am service to rejoin their parents for Holy Communion.
For teens
By building community, putting our faith in action, and developing and strengthening our spiritual tools, at St. John’s we are excited to journey alongside our teens during middle school and high school.
With a curriculum focused on the teens developing their own personalized spiritual toolkits so they can explore their relationship with God in a way that is meaningful to them, we at St. John’s find innovative ways to provide a safe and affirming environment for teens to explore themselves, their spirituality, and the world around them.
