St. John’s Community Foundation aims to support projects that help people in the Stamford, Connecticut, community change their lives for the better. 

The majority of our grants are awarded to non-profit community organizations active in such areas as housing, education and social services. 

The Foundation’s board of trustees comprises seven members and the rector of St. John’s Church, and seven members of the community. The board meets four times each year to review applications, award grants, and monitor the use of disbursed funds. 

St. John’s Community Foundation was established by St. John’s Episcopal Church to help address the broad social issues facing the Stamford community.

Since its inception in 1987, St. John’s Community Foundation has awarded over $6,000,000 in grants to more than one hundred organizations.

The Foundation, an independent 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, is funded entirely by St. John’s Episcopal Church, through the Episcopal Mission Society of Stamford.

The Foundation actively partners with Garden Homes Management and Housing Development Fund, working to address the crucial need for affordable housing in our own city of Stamford.

The Foundation has no staff or overhead expenses and is entirely operated by a volunteer board of trustees: 100% of the funds provided to us go directly to community agencies and organizations in the Stamford community.
