About Us
History
St. John’s Community Foundation was established by St. John’s Episcopal Church to help address the broad social issues facing the Stamford community.
Since its inception in 1987, St. John’s Community Foundation has awarded over six million dollars in grants to more than one hundred organizations.
Mission
Our aim is to support projects that help people change their lives for the better.
The majority of our grants are awarded to non-profit community organizations active in such areas as housing, education and social services.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees is made up of eight St. John’s parishioners and seven members of the community. We meet four times a year to review applications, award grants and monitor the use of disbursed funds.

Funding for the Foundation is provided by St. John’s Episcopal Church. St. John’s funds the Foundation from income it receives for leasing some of its property to Canterbury Green, a mixed-use development of offices, apartments and shops.
Partnerships
The Foundation is working with Garden Homes Management and Housing Development Fund, two non-profits in Stamford, to subsidize apartments.
Policy
The Foundation has no staff or overhead expenses; 100% of the funds provided to us go directly to community agencies and organizations in the Stamford community.
