The Rev. Julia A. Fritts
Julia Fritts joined St. John's on August 14 as their new Associate Rector from the diocese of Maryland. Prior to ordination, Julia was a classical acupuncturist and physical therapist in private practice, a meditation and Tai Chi teacher, and professional musician. A member of the Benedictine Order of Urban Missioners, she has a passion for welcoming the lost and empowering the found. Her love of strong spiritual formation for all ages, and for the design of joyful, powerful liturgy that welcomes all to a deeper connection with the living God through Word and Sacrament are her greatest joys.
Julia is the mother of the gifted and lovely Lilly, a Sophomore at Towson University in Maryland where she is pursuing her interests as a writer and a cellist. The family also includes Luna, a retriever mix, who has welcomed all manner of God's creatures into her home, as her mom is an animal rehabilitator as well. Julia is an avid traveler, visiting countries near and far in her admiration of God's creation. Last year took her to Turkey, where her travels included a meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in Istanbul to promote the peacemaking work of Muslim-Christian dialogue.
Julia looks forward to joining her energy with that of the people of St. John's, Stamford, and celebrating the discovery of new ways in which our great joy can begin to meet the world's great need.
